My Daily Routine as a Communications Student in Rome

One of my favorite things about living in Rome is that even my ordinary days never really feel ordinary. My routine has a mix of studying, creating, and enjoying the little things that make life here so special.

I usually wake up around 7 or 8 a.m. because I love giving myself plenty of time before class. Having a slow morning feels essential in Italy — there’s something about easing into the day that makes everything more enjoyable. I’ll take my time getting ready, enjoying the process rather than rushing through it.

Once I head out, I catch the bus up the hill to my university. Class schedule changes depending on the day, but I always try to carve out time afterward to stop by one of my favorite cafés nearby. Not only do they have amazing coffee, but I’ve also built a great relationship with the people there, which eventually led me to start creating content for them as a little side project.

After class, I love walking back down into the city. The walk takes about 25 minutes, and I usually stop for groceries on the way. Back at my cozy apartment in Trastevere, my roommate and I will often meal prep together, fit in a yoga session or a workout, and just enjoy the rhythm of our Italian home.

Afternoons and evenings are a balance of work and relaxation. Sometimes I dive into homework or content projects, and other times I’ll spend the evening cooking, hosting a dinner with friends, or just enjoying some self-care. Living right by the Tiber means I can catch the sunset by the river — one of my favorite simple joys.

Throughout the day, I love capturing little moments — my morning coffee, a pretty street view, or the golden light hitting the city. Content creation isn’t just work for me; it’s how I hold onto the beauty of daily life.

It still amazes me that this is my real routine, not something I scroll past on social media. Balancing student life, creative work, and the joys of living in Rome has brought me so much peace and gratitude. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade this daily rhythm for anything.
